Several have suggested this...and I have seen some 128MB sticks for
under $50.  Someone said that you could mount a USB HDD from the CD
distro.  I saw a USB 20 GB HDD for under $80.

How you roll your own bootable CD is beyond my understanding...but I
love the idea.
