[linux] DSPx on *nix?

Hello all from a newbie!
I was just wondering if anybody has successfully programmed the DSPx (
http://www.tapr.org/kits_dspx.html ) from some kind of unix box. (I am
running OpenBSD, but it has a linux emulation layer, if needed.) I wanted to
get this board to play around and learn, as described in EMRFD, but wanted
to know how easy it is to work with from the *nix side of things. Thanks!
