You're welcome. I forgot to ask if you are getting normal indications on the jig. ie: 1pps heartbeat, regular flashing of tx, and rx is dark until you send a command. I also forgot to ask if you were running in nmea at 4800, or Mot bin at 9600.

Thanks for your suggestion.  I am running Linux and I have a Garmin GPS-18
on COM2 (ttyS1) and it is functioning just fine.  I will try testing the
cable, but I have tried two different cables to no avail.
