The server is a stock Apache/Linux system with reasonable horsepower. It's located at a hosting site that sits on a pretty fat pipe, and in all the tests I've done, the performance is pretty good (I'm one of the sysadmins). There may be some sort of intermittent network outage between your site and ours; I had something like that this morning where from work I could not get into my home system, but I could login to tapr.org, and from tapr.org could connect to home. Fifteen minutes later the problem was gone and I could do a direct connection again.
