John and Jim: This done is weird. John, I'd certainly like it to be a cable related issue as we have a lot of experience with those. What worries me is that changing from Modem to TNC mode shouldn't make a difference. Jim: Can you go back and forth a couple of times between TNC and Modem modes to make sure the problem is consistent? That will help isolate if it is a flaky cable issue or a firmware issue. Jim: Can you tell me what kind of weather head you have, is it one of the older Dallas ones or the AAG "V3". If you are not sure, the best way to know is when you do the calibration. Do you have to spin the wind direction vane three times or just point to north? will -----Original Message----- From: wxsig-bounces at lists.tapr.org [mailto:wxsig-bounces at lists.tapr.org] On Behalf Of Michael Barelli W0MAF Sent: Tuesday, December 06, 2005 3:02 PM To: TAPR Weather Station SIG Mailing List Subject: Re: [wxsig] Problem with new modem+ and wind direction Hello Jim. I had the same problem when I upgraded. I went nuts tring to fix it. I could not get it to work on the bench. I tried different kinds of leads. I then only got it to work only when I put it on my roof using the old cat5 line from my old setup. It works fine now. I have about 40 feet of line to my basement Ham shack. I do not have a 5 volt line either. I hope this helps. It seams that some lines do not work. Good luck. See data on findu at w0maf-1 --- John Koster <w9ddd at tapr.org> wrote: > Geez that was quick.
