If you're looking at a Davis VP/VP-II or a Vaisala WXT-510, the weather station and a Linksys NSLU2 would comprise the "computer" hardware, and some form of wireless ethernet or serial link could do the comms. In the ham radio realm, the KPC-3+ tnc can handle a weather station pretty easily, then add a radio. Zigbee is a very short-range option. The reference to 100 ft is pretty optimistic, in my experience. Something like the link Bob provided is promising for an integrated data radio. gerry Bob Staley wrote: > Check this outfit, outdoor up to a mile > > http://www.maxstream.net/ > > hope it helps also carried at digikey > > Bob > > -----Original Message----- > From: wxsig-bounces at lists.tapr.org > [mailto:wxsig-bounces at lists.tapr.org]On Behalf Of ks4q at zingleman.com > Sent: Thursday, March 30, 2006 10:45 AM > To: wxsig at lists.tapr.org > Subject: Re: [wxsig] Wind application > > > I believe that zigbee is for short range applications.....like up > to 100 feet or something like > that. > > Ernie KS4Q > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Steve Daum > To: wxsig at lists.tapr.org > Sent: Thu, 30 Mar 2006 07:37:13 -0500 > Subject: [wxsig] Wind application > > I have been reading TAPR postings for a few months.
