Don't know if any of you are following the OpenTracker group, but thought this very interesting. Scott is working on a weather station product/project. Should be a fairly capable device when he is done. He is considering a 1-Wire interface for the instrument. Rich ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Scott Miller <scott at opentrac.org> Date: Fri, Aug 7, 2009 at 6:07 PM Subject: [opentracker] Weather station update To: opentracker at yahoogroups.com The WX boards came in the other day, and I've got the first prototype assembled. After fighting with it all day, I've finally got the stupid barometric pressure sensor working. It involves reading a bunch of calibration constants from the device and doing some math, and I found two errors in the example code given in the data sheet during my testing. After finding the last error, it's now reading within 1 hPa of the barometer on the wall, which is within its specified absolute accuracy. So as of this afternoon, here's the status: Wind speed - working, looks right, needs calibration Wind direction - working, no consensus averaging yet Rain - working, needs calibration Temperature - OK Pressure - OK Humidity - OK No show stoppers with the board layout yet. A couple of minor silkscreen errors, and the board stop on one of the RJ12's interferes with a boss on the lid, but nothing a pair of side cutters can't fix. Scott
