TO-92 Device Installation
1-Wire Indoor Sensor/Interface Kit

Refer to the layout diagram for clarification of parts placement. All references to up, down, left, and right assume that you are looking at the PCB with the silkscreen TAPR logo oriented up on the board. Unless noted otherwise, all components are mounted on the top of the PC board.

TO-92 refers to those devices that share the same style of case and leads to connect to the circuit. All appear to be a small-signal type transistor with three leads emanating from the bottom of the device. Devices of this type in the kit are voltage regulators, PIOs (1-Wire I/O), a temperature sensor, and V-MOSFETs. Be sure you are installing the correct type at each location before soldering.

These are polarity sensitive devices. If installed wrong and voltage is applied, they will be destroyed, even if for less than a second. Be certain they are correctly aligned with the silkscreen pattern before soldering.

Installation Instructions

Spread the legs of the device so that they align with the holes on the PC board with the flat side lined up with the silkscreen outline on the board. The orientation of the center leg varies so, be certain it is correct. The majority of these devices has the center leg pushed back.
Push the device into the board so that bottom of the device is approximately 1/4” above the board. Do not over-stress the leads. If you encounter resistance as you push the device in the mount holes, stop.
Spread the legs apart slightly on the bottom side of the PC board to hold the device in place.
Double-check to be sure the correct device is being used.
Solder and clip three leads. Wear safety glasses and observe proper precautions!
