Woodworking is a hobby started after many years absence. Nothing fancy—just a workbench and some rolling cabinets for the garage.

Next up—a new operating table for the Ham Station. I’ve made a couple over the years, starting with high-pressure laminate glued to particle board with a 19” rack mount console.

A real wood bench with a customized tilted top to hold equipment at an angle, and just a few Arts & Crafts touches would be nice.

Everyone says to start with a table saw.

The miter slots in the Unisaw were not quite uniform in width (they varied about 0.011” ). The slots were straightened by sanding them at the narrow points, which results in much better alignment of my various jigs. Here’s how to tune up the miter slot.
